Distribution: Ajaccio, the most expensive city
The highest prices in supermarkets were recorded in Ajaccio, Versailles and Hyères, the lowest in Charleville-Mezieres, Nancy and Troyes, according to a study by Nielsen firm conducted for the weekly specializing LSA, forthcoming jdemain.
In a ranking based on several hundred thousand references in some 5,000 stores in 126 major metropolitan areas France, Nielsen said that to a national average of 100, Ajaccio (Corse-du-Sud) index recorded the highest prices (114.60) and Charleville-Mezieres (Ardennes) the lowest (92.36).
Among the 10 most expensive cities, seven are located in the Paris region, where competition between brands is low.
The most expensive in this region is Versailles (Yvelines), followed in the Hauts-de-Seine in Boulogne-Billancourt, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Rueil-Malmaison, and Clamart Nanterre and Paris (Val-de-Marne)
