Bertrand defends Sarkozy
The Labour Minister, Xavier Bertrand, asserts that "only" President Nicolas Sarkozy is "capable of leading and successful transformation" of France, in an interview to be published in Le Parisien tomorrow.
As he said that Francois Fillon has spent more time than Nicolas Sarkozy exhibition of agriculture, fuelling speculation about a supposed rivalry when the approval ratings of Prime Minister climbing in the polls, Mr. Bertrand said: "The highlight of the show is what the speech gave the president".
"For the French, no doubt, in fact: it is always Nicolas Sarkozy alone who can lead and succeed in the transformation of this country," he said. "The President - it's the law of the Fifth Republic - is the only one to have the legitimacy to do so, and also the energy to do it."
"There is no question of stand idly by, and to say that the state can do nothing (...) We must be on the front line with the President of the Republic, without exception, so get these messages, "says Mr. Bertrand.
According to the Minister, "if our electorate cares, as he takes the path, the results, you see, have nothing to do with the polls", which "should not be our blue line des Vosges.
