A Reims, the right may pay dearly its divisions, according to a TNS-Sofres poll published Thursday, February 28th in the regional daily L'Union. The Socialist candidate Adeline Hazan would be in the lead in the first round as the second face of the former ministers Renaud Dutreil, supported by the UMP, and Catherine Vautrin, dissenting.


Methodology

The survey was conducted by telephone from 22 to 25 February 2008, among a sample of 600 people representative of the population Reims aged 18 and over and registered to vote.

In this city held by the mayor DVD Jean-Louis Schneiter, who is not standing for and supports Ms. Vautrin, Mrs. Hazan, the head of a list PS-PCF-Greens would be in the lead in the first round with 36% of intentions to vote, before Mr. Dutreil (UMP), former minister of SMEs, and Ms. Vautrin (DVD), former Minister for social cohesion, both neck-shoulder with 26% of the vote.

In the second round, Adeline Hazan prevails shortly before Ms. Vautrin (51% vs. 49%), also supported by the MoDem but significantly against the candidate invested by the UMP (54% vs. 46%). In the case of a triangular, the PS candidate would be in the lead with 42% of votes, compared to 29% for its two opponents on the right.
