Mr. Déby has denied the arrest by the Chadian forces of two opposition leaders. "Neither Mr. nor Mr. Yorongar Ibni Oumar (Mahamat Saleh) have been arrested by the army," he said before adding: "The presidential guard had something else to do."

The remarks by the Head of State opposed to those of Mr. Yorongar who arrived Thursday in Paris from Cameroon, told the press how he was arrested on February 3 at his home by several armed soldiers "before being led into a" secret prison (installed) in a small military camp "in the capital.

Incarcerated, chains on his feet, Mr. Yorongar be held incommunicado for more than two weeks before being released on February 21, after having been the subject of a mock execution in a cemetery in N'Djamena. Mr. Yorongar then managed to join the Cameroon.

The opponent Chad was also convinced qu'Ibni Oumar, a former minister, a time detained in the same jail that he had died, "unless a miracle." But Mr. Yorongar has no formal proof of death.

One of the children Ibni Oumar, Hicham, based in France, is, however, convinced that his father is still alive. "We know that my father was arrested by men of Déby. Superior officers told us he saw him in premises of the presidency. He was tortured and beaten, but we think it is still alive," 'he says.

The son of the opposing party, which was received in mid-week by President french Nicolas Sarkozy, said he was confident that "France was aware of the arrests by the regime." She knew their whereabouts. " French''continues to exist.
